So you had an amazing photoshoot. You love your photos. You go to upload your headshots for an application and you run into a snag - the file size is too large to upload. Ugh, you were really on a roll…Here’s how to resize that JPG in no time at all, whether you’re on a MAC or PC.
Resizing on a MAC:
Find the JPG file you need to resize
Open the image with Preview (you can do this by right clicking on the file —> Open with —> Preview)
Once in preview go to File —> Export —> adjust the slider bar to the size you need (try 1MB!) Make sure you’re saving it as a JPG format
Save to your preferred location/folder
Upload your newly resized photo to wherever you need it!
Resizing on a PC:
Select the picture you want to compress
Click the Picture Tools Format tab —> Compress Pictures
Do one of the following:
a. For photo use in a document, under Resolution, click Print
b. For photo use on a Web page, under Resolution, click Web
c. For photo use in emails, under Resolution, click E-mail
Some pictures will only show one or two of these options.
4. Click OK, and save the photo in a file/folder where you can find it
